69 Eyes-Angels (2007)
Cover: 9 porno stars out of 10
I don’t see anything wrong with a hot female porno star on the cover, besides the expression on her face suggest that she’s ready for some action, so…like I said nothing wrong with that .
Songs: 7 eyes out of 10
Angels is basically the continuation of Devils (2005), this is the second album from the Hellsinky vampires that is currently being noticed by American. fans and critics (all of their previous work was not released in the U.S. until recently, by Cleopatra records) so the band can thank Bam Margera for all this recent exposure.
The music on this album its a little more “Rock n Roll” compared to Devils, but without loosing that gothic vibe, I mean they still use a lot of keyboards and deep vocals, the best example of this, is in the song “Rocker”
“Perfect Skin” is the first single and video, and its easily my favourite track from this album, the only complain I have is in the lyrics: (“Jenna,Paris,Jessica,Mara,Jean,Madonna” where the hell is Lindsay Lohans mention ??).
“Wings and Hearts” it’s a beautiful song featuring great backing vocals, ”Star of Fate” is also a beautiful ballad with more great backing vocals, it almost sound like a Gregorian chant.
“Frankenhooker” it’s a monster of a song, its just awesome! This one should be the next single… (In case they plan to release another one)
The rest of the songs are good, problem is most of these songs sound very much alike
the other problem I see with a band like the 69 eyes, is that, they don’t really belong to an exact genre of music, I mean they are not a hair band (like Crashdiet or Gemini Five) or a goth band (Type O Negative) or a metal band (Danzig), they just borrow pieces of this and that, and they make their own music, at least they are original.
Comments:
Musically speaking, I don’t think Angels it’s an excellent record, I don’t even think its superior to Devils,
but I ll suggest you give this bands music a chance and then decide for yourself if you like it or not, their music is far better than what’s on radio these days anyway.
