Quiet Riot - Rehab
Cover: 7 medicated pills out of 10
The cover concept it’s pretty simple, just a word
with big letters, but the dark green light in the back of
the letters looks kind of cool, also you can see a part of
that famous metal mask (mascot?) who’s been present
in almost all of their previous album covers.

Songs: 8 raccoon wigs out of 10
Like the title of the record suggest Quiet Riot sounds like
they just come out of rehab feeling new and fresh, the songs
are pretty strong, a little more heavy than usual but most
important of all, they sound more mature, long gone are the
silly anthems like “Party all night” or “Rock
the house”, but not only are the lyrics more mature,
the music is also…. Lets say…“less hair
metal” than their previous albums, for example you
can hear an harmonica in “South of heaven” or
a gospel chorus on “Old habits die hard”, or
a blues influenced guitar here and there, they even sound
like a total different band on “Evil woman” a
Spooky Tooth cover, featuring vocals by Glenn Huges
First track “Free” has a heavy guitar intro
courtesy of session musician Neil Citron, Tony Franklin takes
care of the bass duties.
Like “Free” (my favourite track), “Blind
faith”, “South of heaven” and “Black
reign” are also excellent tracks, but there’s
really not a bad track in the whole album.
Frankie Banali does an excellent drumming on this album and
Kevin Dubrow… well he’s not the best singer in
the world, but he delivers, only he can sing lines like “it
sucks to be you, but it rocks to be me”.
Comments:
I really think Rehab it’s the best album from Quiet
Riot since “Metal Health”, so give this record
a chance, you wont be disappointed.
